W126 Aux Fan Not Working. High coolant temperature causes the fan to run at full speed. I noticed this the other day when coolant temp rose to about 100ºc. since the weather started to get nice i decided to start work on getting my a/c to work in my w126 1987 420sel. i am having an issue with the aux fan on a 1987 300sdl. now we have hit summer here in sydney, it was apparent that the auxiliary fan was not working. at a/c on you need to have auxiliary fan running on low speed from time. fuse number 1 kept blowing and lo and behold it was the aux fan itself. my 126’s auxiliary cooling fan stopped coming on. The fan is mounted in front of the radiator and is susceptible to damage from road debris. I checked the fuse and the fan does not come on when. The fan is triggered either by high coolant temperature, or refrigerant pressure.
